Every time I see a truly irritating character, I just want Gene to beat some sense into them.

Review wise, good stuff but I didn't feel that Shaz was totally underused (plus how bloody awesome did she look in the finale with her wedding dress and gun combo?)

The season is definitely an improvement on the first one, I have to agree there. I'll probably buy this after I get The War Games and Trial Of A Time Lord boxset, are the extras any good? The ones for Season 1 were fine.shawnlunn2002https://www.blogger.com/profile/14242367250345323622noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-937657357526311250.post-45500063631402848092009-07-13T21:08:42.495+01:002009-07-13T21:08:42.495+01:00I have mixed feelings about Ashes to Ashes. Firstl...I have mixed feelings about Ashes to Ashes. Firstly I love Keeley Hawes. So that bodes well. And I loved Life On Mars (anything to do with Bowie has to be great, right?). But Ashes to Ashes kind of took the ambiguity out of the ending of Life on Mars. When that series ended, I wasn't really sure what was true. But a sequel kind of made it obvious that both of them were/are indeed in comas. I preferred the idea, I think, that it wasn't explicit.

Moaning aside, season two was a marked improvement on season one, although the cliff-hanger ending did feel a tad contrived... like it was setting up season three, and that's about it.

But Gene Hunt is absolutely iconic, and for those of us brought up on the Sweeney, watching him is like putting on a pair of comfortable slippers... and then kicking the crap out of someone in them.Paul Kellynoreply@blogger.com
